Socially Responsible Investment
Several premier socially responsible investment funds feature Bristol-Myers
Squibb in their portfolios.
- In September 2006, Bristol-Myers Squibb was included in the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index of leading sustainability-driven companies in North America. The Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index selects companies based on a systematic corporate sustainability assessment that identifies the leading sustainability-driven companies in each industry group.
- In the October 2006 Global Pharmaceutical Sector Report released by Innovest Strategic Value Advisors, Bristol-Myers Squibb ranked 6 out of 44 firms with a "AA" rating.
- The German corporate social responsibility rating agency oekom research AG released in April 2005 its ranking of the world's 27 largest pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Bristol-Myers Squibb ranked among the top five for social and environmental performance. The evaluations by oekom research are used by managers responsible for funds with a total value of over one billion euros.
- Bristol-Myers Squibb is ranked 22 out of the world's top 50 corporate environmental and sustainability reporters, according to a joint report by SustainAbility, the United Nations Environmental Programme, and Standard and Poor's. Published in 2004, the report Risk and Opportunities: Best Practices in Non-Financial Reporting, ranks Bristol-Myers Squibb among the top two pharmaceutical companies and top three U.S.-based companies. Bristol-Myers Squibb is one of a select few companies to make the top 50 list in all three benchmark surveys of corporate non-financial reporting by SustainAbility and UNEP.
- Storebrand Investments, a leading Scandinavian financial services
company with over 20 billion euros under management, has ranked Bristol-Myers
Squibb as "best in class" based on the company's environmental
and social performance.
- As of July 2004, Bristol-Myers Squibb held one of the top five largest positions of the UBS (Lux) Equity Fund - Eco Performance B. The fund invests worldwide in companies that generate above average environmental, social, and economic performance, and offer interesting growth potential.
- Bristol-Myers Squibb is part of the Calvert Social Index of companies. The Calvert Group, a leader in socially responsible investing, has created the Social Index, a broad-based, rigorously constructed benchmark for measuring the performance of U.S.-based socially responsible companies.
