The Institute of Social and Ethical AccountAbility was established in 1995, and is the leading international non-profit institute that brings together members and partners from business, civil society, and the public sector from across the world. AccountAbility is dedicated to promoting accountability for sustainable development and has developed the AA1000 series of tools and standards.

American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) is an international society of 6,000 occupational physicians, founded in 1916. ACOEM provides leadership to promote optimal health and safety of workers, workplaces, and environments by: educating health professionals and the public; stimulating research; enhancing the quality of practice; guiding public policy; and advancing the field of occupational and environmental medicine.

Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) is a voluntary accreditation organization that works with institutions and researchers to ensure the highest standards of animal care and use. Like other animal welfare organizations, AAALAC International supports the use of animals to advance medicine and science when there are no non-animal alternatives, and when it is done in an ethical and humane way.

Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) is a U.S.-based global resource for companies seeking to sustain their commercial success in ways that demonstrate respect for ethical values, people, communities, and the environment. Through socially responsible business policies and practices, companies create value for investors, customers, employees, local communities, and other stakeholders. BSR assists its members in creating that value by providing expert help as companies address the full range of corporate responsibility issues.

Calvert Social Index is a broad-based, rigorously constructed benchmark for measuring the performance of U.S.-based socially responsible companies. Known for offering the largest family of socially-screened mutual funds, Calvert Group, Ltd. is one of the Washington D.C. area's largest mutual fund management firms with more than $9 billion in assets under management for over 300,000 investors.

The Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI) is a group of leading companies dedicated to fostering EHS excellence by businesses worldwide.

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) was established in late 1997 with the mission of developing globally applicable guidelines for reporting on the economic, environmental, and social performance, initially for corporations and eventually for any business, governmental, or non-governmental organization (NGO). Convened by the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies (CERES) in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the GRI incorporates the active participation of corporations, NGOs, accountancy organizations, business associations, and other stakeholders from around the world.

Iniciativa GEMI (IGEMI), a sister organization to GEMI, based in Mexico. Iniciativa GEMI's mission is to foster environmental management among the country's businesses, taking into consideration society and ecosystems, as well as the principles of sustainable development.

The Innovest Strategic Value Advisors (INOVEST) is an internationally recognized investment research firm specializing in environmental finance and investment opportunities. Innovest assesses corporate environmental performance, then uses this analysis as a proxy for management quality to project the stock market returns of individual companies.

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), whose Business Charter for Sustainable Development has been endorsed by more than 2,000 companies, labor groups, environmental organizations, and intergovernmental environmental agencies. Bristol-Myers Squibb was an early signatory of the ICC Business Charter, announcing our support shortly after it was published in April 1991.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) finalized in September 1996 its environmental management system standard, known as ISO 14001. Bristol-Myers Squibb views ISO 14001 as an opportunity to further demonstrate our commitment to EHS leadership. ISO 14001 is one of several standards to which we measure our performance; others include the ICC Business Charter.

National Institute of Health (NIH) Office of Biotechnology Activities (OBA) monitors scientific progress in human genetics research in order to anticipate future developments, including ethical, legal, and social concerns, in basic and clinical research involving Recombinant DNA, Genetic Testing, and Xenotransplantation. It also develops and implements NIH policies and procedures for the safe conduct of Recombinant DNA Activities and Human Gene Transfer.

The Nature Conservancy has a mission to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. A nonprofit organization founded in 1951, it is the world's largest private international conservation group that protects millions of acres of valuable lands and waters worldwide.

SECURE THE FUTURE™ is a five-year, $100 million commitment by Bristol-Myers Squibb Company – in partnership with the African nations of South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, and Swaziland – to find sustainable and relevant solutions for the management of HIV/AIDS in women and children, and provide resources to improve community education and patient support. On March 14, 2001, Bristol-Myers Squibb pledged an additional $15 million for four countries in western Africa: Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, Mali, and Burkina Faso.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the environmental agency of the United Nations.

The U.S. Green Building Council is a coalition of leaders from across the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live. The Council has developed the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™, which is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED provides a framework for assessing building performance and meeting sustainability goals.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) provides an online database, EDGAR, the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval system, which performs automated collection, validation, indexing, acceptance, and forwarding of submissions by companies and others who are required by law to file forms with the SEC.  The EDGAR Database contains publicly available electronic filings by corporations to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Bristol-Myers Squibb's 10-K and 10-Q filings can be viewed in the database.

The World Environment Center (WEC) is an independent, not-for-profit, non-advocacy organization. Founded in 1974, WEC is a bridge for the exchange of information and expertise among industry, government, non-governmental organizations, academia, and the community.
